your '?' key is broken.

Anyway, this is what I get when I start emacs21/SLIME/clisp:

That means emacs and clisp have VSZ larger than three times your total
system memory capacity. Now I don't know how much of that memory is
active(*), but I would suspect that it would be not much fun to run
emacs and clisp on 8MB main memory. Emacs alone is nicknamed 'eight
megabytes and constantly swapping'.

On the other hand, if you have patience and enough swapspace, I
believe it should work.
