he there,
In the past few days i've been busy writing a ucw tutorial. I know
about the cliki one, in fact i copied ideas here and there, but i
wanted to make a document which goes through the material a bit
slower. It is intended to be a one-stop resource for the ucw-newbie,
almost like a manual. It's not finished yet but i would like some
feedback on it. Any critique is very welcome, especially on the
overall style and structure of the text and on my take on the inner
workings of ucw. The model in my head seems well enough to predict
what ucw will do, but it is bound to be full of misconceptions.
you can skip issues which are on my todo list:
- finishing not written chapters
- rewriting configuration stuff (upcoming defentry-point changes plus
the new startup code supplied by luca plus future modifications to
that one to let ucw start without detachtty)
- creating proper intro sources
furthermore i have some questions to fill holes in the tutorial:
- does ucw work at all on windows? I guess not but if you have
experience, let me know.
- in what ways does configuring a mac to work with ucw differ from
freebsd/linux if at all.
- On which other os-ses does ucw work (apart from freebsd, linux and osx)
- what are the limitations of code inside actions? What part of c-l
isn't captured?
- Which dependencies of ucw are covered by apt-get on debian? all? I
found some info which i presented as facts but they are probably out
of date.
- is there a tarball of ucw's version of detachtty? It would be nice
to have one, since it's the only dependency for which you really need
darcs.
the tutorial is to be found on http://www.fallenfrukt.com/ucw-intro.html
have fun reading ;-)
