Yep, thanks, works now, i.e. I can create a ZIP archive without
getting error messages.

However, the ZIP archive that I made as described in my last email can
be opened by Debian's unzip but not by a Windows program like, say,
FilZip.  The latter treats it like an empty archive...  :(
