Hmm... my knowledge of the garbage collector and what it's doing is  
pretty limited. I know how to turn it off. Eventually, it seems,  
there is a GC bill we must pay. I don't see how tweaking the settings  
is going to change that, but perhaps I'm just not aware of the proper  
settings to tweak.
