Thanks; that fixes the tests.  They all pass for me on Mac OS X Lion with

ccl clisp sbcl ecl abcl allegro allegromodern

Haven't tried Allegro 9 yet, only 8.2

If I get a chance, I'll try to modify the tests so that one can do +smp
and -smp on Allegro.
