Same here. I've got a pair of functions ASDF-RESCAN-PACKAGES and
UPDATE-ASDF-REGISTRY to load and update a cache for
asdf:*central-registry* in the ~/.*rc.lisp files.
Otherwise for specific projects, I just build asdf:*central-registry*
explicitely.
