To be honest - I never bothered to try.  ISTR that (Portable)
AllegroServe disables chunking for SSL connections and I probably just
mimicked that behaviour.

Feel free to play around without chunking disabled.  If you have
enough evidence that SSL works flawlessly with chunking (across
different Lisps and operating systems), I'll be happy to remove the
code which disables it from Hunchentoot.
