A basic Emacs function doing both could look like this:

(defun slime-save-and-load-file ()
  (interactive "P")
  (let ((filename (buffer-file-name)))
    (if (not filename)
        (message "Buffer %s is not associated with a file."
                 (buffer-name))
      (save-buffer)
      (slime-load-file filename))))
