To corporate drones such as myself sitting behind a firewall it would be
really usefull to have a VC with http access.

As long as it is not bazaar. We admittedly do not have the fastest
connection to the outside world but I gave up after a checkout of the
emacs repo literally had been running for several days without
finishing.
