Yeah, these days it would better to remove :fd-handler for SBCL.

:fd-handler assumes that something runs an event loop when I/O
operations like READ-CHAR would otherwise block.  CCL doesn't do that.

If you want to run it single threaded you can set
swank:*communication-style* to nil.
