[slime-devel] installing slime in fedora core 3?

hi, i'm very new to linux.. i have installed Fedora Core 3 on my
computer, it's working fine. I want to install slime onto Fedora Core
3.... i can't seem to follow the installation instructions..

on the installation instructions:
(slime-setup)
when i typed this into emacs and compile and run it, it just returned
nil.. anyone know what's happening?
