[slime-devel] Stupid question

Hi

I am very new to SLIME and I have noticed a slightly annoying problem.

I am using an old CMUCL 18e on a Linux box.  Once I start SLIME I keep 
getting "Polling ...." messages in the minibuffer.

Is there something obvious I am missing?
