[slime-devel] Remote SLIME?

Has there been thoughts on extending slime to be able run lisps at
other hosts than the local (ala Franz' eli)?

For the purpose of the inferior lisp, it works well to specify

        ssh <some-other-host> lisp ...

but slime then fails to connect to the lisp.

I am not quite sur exactly how slime and swank communicates, but the
connection process certainly involves a file in /tmp which isn't so
hot in a multi host setup.

One option would be to do something like emacsclient which (I think)
uses a UNIX socket in the home directory for communication with emacs.
