regex-coach font

Hi, I use regex when editing text in ebooks (HTML) and DTP generally.
I'm using WinXP SP3, regex-coach 0.92.

I often need to search/replace characters like em and en dashes, 
curly quotes, etc. In the regex-coach gui these characters all show 
up as black squares. I assume this is due to the font. I see no way 
to choose the display font to something more versatile. Can this be done?

I notice this mailing list seems to be dormant. Nothing except one 
spam message in the last 6 years.
