If you do not want to be on this list, or if I have added your incorrect email address, please feel free to change it, or contact me if you cannot figure out how to do that. FIRST MEETING: Would anyone like to meet in Munich on January 4th 2005 for the first Munich Lisp Users Group? According to this article it seems that 4 January 2005 is the 10th birthday of Common Lisp -- so the date is fitting. http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=9501191632.AA05983%40livia.East.Sun.COM At the first meeting we have a chance to meet each other and perhaps get an idea of the expectations that people have to make such a group successful. I'll be looking for a place to have the meeting. The place will depend on how many people think they can attend. Please feel free to bring guests and get all your friends who are interested to join the mailing list. Next Saturday my written exam is due, in January are the oral examinations for Computational Linguistics and Computer Science, and after that I'll need another two to three semesters to finish my other minor, which is Industrial Management. Other than that, I'm giving a class "Unix-Einf?hrung f?r Computerlinguisten" and work as a freelance sysadmin and course instructor for Linux Security and Internet Search. > are there other people at the university who might be interested? I'm doing a lot of Lisp advocacy at University, and I even accomplished to write the program for my thesis in Common Lisp (the topic was "Automatische Adre?erkennung -- ein Ansatz f?r deutsche Adressen und seine Implementierung"). My professor already asked me to reimplement it in "a more compatible language" like Perl or C, though ... > I am thinking that what i'd like to do is have a infomal meeting > sometime in december just to > get an idea of what people would like to do, how often to meet, what > are the areas of interest > etc... then in january have another meeting including some > presentations and maybe a guest speaker. Sounds good to me. I won't be able to do much until the end of January, but I'll definitely be there. I'm looking forward for that. I think we'll have fun and an interesting time. > I'll be looking for a place to have the meeting. The place > will depend on how many people think they can attend. That's the point I' most worried about. Do you see some possibilities? The place should be available also in the future, not too noisy, and easy to reach by public transportation. I would favor a schedule of meeting once a month. Is that ok? The 4th is too early for me, since I will be away on holidays till the 5th included. But if this cannot be changed, then maybe I'll come some other month. Also whereever we meet must to be a non-smoking room. this makes the restaraunt idea unlikely as there are not many non smoking restaraunts in munich. -jim From jimka at rdrop.com Sun Dec 19 17:57:14 2004 From: jimka at rdrop.com (Jim Newton) Date: Sun, 19 Dec 2004 18:57:14 +0100 Subject: [munich-lisp] Re: Munich Lisp Wiki Page Message-ID: <41C5C0FA.6010805@rdrop.com> Hi everyone, I'd like to schedule the first meeting of the Munich Lisp Users Group on the 4th of January 2005. Let's meet at the Pizza Hut at Isar Tor at 19h30. The location is easily reachable from the S-bahn and pretty close to the center of Munich. It would be great if everyone could send me an email ( to jimka at rdrop.com) if you think you can attend. That way I can reserve enough seats. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone there. In the mean time Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Seasons Greeting, Happy Holidays, etc, (insert your favorite greeting here) -jimka > http://alu.cliki.net/Munich >
