Hi, Douglas.  I've forwarded these two patches of yours to the
portable-clx mailing list (and applied them to my CLX darcs tree).
I'd honestly much rather delete the xrender.lisp and associated files
in mcclim -- I don't think anyone other than you is using it -- but if
that would be difficult for you I could simply copy over the version
from that CLX branch.

(Even if I do that, I'm pretty sure that I will remove xrender.lisp
from the mcclim repository before the next mcclim release.)
