 Another clarification.  Currently we don't drop the actual index storage
 on slot index drop, we only drop the reference to it.  When a slot of the
 same name is indexed, it reconnects to the pre-existing index.

 What is the proper behavior?  Should we warn on reconnect, signal a
 condition, etc?
