That did it (actually the spec slot is defined in the parent class in
src/elephant/controller.lisp)

I've run the tests in OpenMCL 1.0 and 1.1-pre-060720 and they pass.

Elephant 0.6.0/Berkeley4.3 doesn't work with latest pre-release, OpenMCL 1.1-pre-061024. I'll report on that when I get a minute - i suspect it has to do with handling unicode.
