I agree that ECL should provide one (perhaps in an introspect
contrib?). Slime uses an ugly kludge which parses the result of
SI::GET-DOCUMENTATION which has stopped working since.

(It may be necessary that the function provided by ECL itself also uses
a kludgy solution, but at least being part of ECL itself, it's more
likely not to break randomly if test cases are defined for it in ECL's
test suite.)
