[Ecls-list] build failure on Leopard?

I have lately not been able to make ECL on Mac OS X (Leopard).  I am using the latest CVS and ./configure;make fails with the following message.  Any thoughts?

Cannot find out entry point for binary file build:clos;top.o.NEWEST

Available restarts:

1. (QUIT-DEBUGGER) Quit debugger level 1.

Broken at TPL.
