Funny, I thought I still had that patch from my last try, but  
apparently not.  After applying your fix, it works!!  I can finally  
build and run my entire accounting package with ECL.  Happy days,  
since it gives me an open path to completely deprecate the command- 
line C++ version in favor of an ECL-built version.

Of course, I immediately ran into the fact that ECL dies on the Euro  
symbols in my general ledger.  Any roadmap for Unicode support?
