I ran into that too, and fixed it the same way you did.  Juan fixed it
(and other problems compiling with g++) for real in ECLS CVS.  Get the CVS
version (instructions at http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=30035), and
configure with "--with-cxx", and rebuild.
