Here's  a minimal fix/patch for slime:

 https://github.com/rmattes/slime/commit/15292d54bf28bfe961e6df9667991484b8a86b0d

With that patch, one can do "(slime-setup '(lime-fancy 'slime-listener-hooks))"  and qt-repl will just
work.
