Hello,
I've taken over the clnuplot package from Gary King. So, let this be my
announcement of my intention to be "malevolent dictator for life (or until
I get bored with it)" ;)
I needed a couple of things that either the current version of clnuplot
doesn't do, or for which the documentation wasn't there to tell me how to
do it. I wanted something simpler to use which is capable of writing
arbitrary gnuplot command files.
That being said, the version that I intend to release soon does NOT use
CLOS and, instead, is a simple "formatting engine" for writing gnuplot
command files in a (hopefully!) lispy kind of way. The interface is
rather simular to the old one, but with a few key differences (which I
will not get into at this time). I am not /opposed/ to using CLOS (in
fact, I like CLOS quite a bit) I just didn't want to have to write a
boatload of code to understand all of the possible options in a gnuplot
command file (possibly, a future version will again produce CLOS
objects, but I believe that will require a fairly significant time
investment in order to do "right" and support all of gnuplot).
Despite my self-imposed "malevolent dictator" title, I /DO/ want feedback!
I also will welcome any patches once I release some code. Further, I will
welcome anyone to join the project on common-lisp.net in order to be able
to commit to the CVS tree. :)
Jim
