BTW, years ago I wrote a CLIM instant messenger for the MSN protocol.

Since then, there might have been changes to the MSN protocol that the
code hasn't been adapted to yet, but the basics should be there.

Perhaps you'd be interested in merging the GUIs, allowing both xmpp and
msn to be used?
