Disregard this message. I managed to get it working by converting to
EPS with 'pdftops -eps ...'. I had some path troubles earlier which
hid the fact that this is working. The PDF from cl-pdf still has the
bounding box problem though, but perhaps it doesn't matter for its
intended use.
