Hmmm, this looks like a load-time-value problem. Funnily enough, I  
was just telling someone this morning that I don't feel confident  
that I understand load-time-value's semantics and now I'll get to try  
and figure it out (I didn't write the code that uses it in CL- 
Mathstats originally).

I'll try to stick in a work around first and then go from there.
