Hi Luke,

I think I'm getting a handle as to what is going wrong here but I'm  
not quite sure whether it's ASDF's "fault", ASDF-System-Connections  
"fault" or just a misunderstanding between the two. One thing I  
noticed that may be contributing to the problem is that there are two  
defsystem-connections for bind-and-metatilities. What happens if you  
rename the second one to bind-and-defclass* (which is what it should  
be called in any case)?

I'll follow up with you later today with what I hope will be a better  
understanding of what is going wrong.
