Then, I sent you a bug report with rewritten templates and annoucing the beginning of the second phase of this action: call for translation updates. Translators have been working hard and here is now the result of their efforts. Please consider using it EVEN if you committed files to your development tree as long as they were reported. The attached tarball contains: - debian/changelog with the list of changes - debian/control with rewrites of packages' descriptions - debian/ with all the rewritten templates file(s) - debian/po/*.po with all PO files (existing ones and new ones) As said, please use *at least* the PO files as provided here, preferrably over those sent by translators in their bug reports. All of them have been checked and reformatted. In some cases, formatting errors have been corrected. The patch-nopo file contains a patch for the templates and control file(s). Please note that this patch applies to the templates and control file(s) of your package as of Friday, May 25, 2007. If your package was updated in the meantime, I may have updated my reference copy....but I also may have missed that. This is indeed why I suggested you do not modified such files while the review process was running, remember..:-) It is now safe to upload a new package version with these changes. Please notify me of your intents with regards to this. There is of course no hurry to update your package but feel free to contact me in case you would need sponsoring or any other action to fix this. -- -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Major changes: + MOP improvement: support for user-defined subclasses of SB-MOP:SPECIALIZER has been enhanced. The experimental interface function SB-PCL:MAKE-METHOD-SPECIALIZERS-FORM, called as part of the expansion of DEFMETHOD, is responsible for generating a form which creates a list of specializers when evaluated. Additional functions SB-PCL:[UN]PARSE-SPECIALIZER-USING-CLASS provide debugging and introspective support. + minor incompatible change: the (unsupported) spinlock interface has changed: free spinlock now has the value NIL, and a held spinlock has the owning thread as its value. + enhancement: WITHOUT-INTERRUPTS now binds ALLOW-WITH-INTERRUPTS and WITH-LOCAL-INTERRUPTS as local macros. Refer to documentation string for details. + enhancement: name of a socket-stream is now "a socket" instead of "a constant string". + enhancement: SB-POSIX now supports lockf(). (Thanks to Zach Beane.) + enhancement: SB-POSIX now supports getcwd(). (Thanks to Tassilo Horn.) + enhancement: SB-INTROSPECT:FUNCTION-ARGLIST shows nicer argument lists for generic functions. (Thanks to Tobias C. Rittweiler) + optimization: bignum printing speed has been improved by 20-40% (depending on the bignum size.) + bug fix: WITH-MUTEX and WITH-RECURSIVE-LOCK are now interrupt safe on Linux. + bug fix: the cache used by the CLOS to store precomputed effective methods, slot offsets, and constant return values is now thread and interrupt safe. + bug fix: generic function dispatch function updating is now thread and interrupt safe (in the sense that the known issues have been fixed.) + bug fix: ADD/REMOVE-METHOD is now thread and interrupt safe. + bug fix: interning EQL-specializers is now thread and interrupt safe. + bug fix: asdf systems with dependencies to the SB-POSIX or SB-BSD-SOCKETS contribs can be loaded with :FORCE T. + bug fix: interrupt safety of applicable method computation has been improved. * Also remove .fontconfig on make clean. Highlights: - the wrapper classes now use finalizers: this means that if you fail to explicitly destroy them, the GC should take care of it. However, files will not be closed until this happens, so don't rely on this, it is just a feature that helps if the user forgets to destroy the object explicitly (please use the latest CFFI if you encounter errors, earlier versions don't have cffi:finalize & co) - minor fixes, mostly cosmetic, now the library compiles under ultra-picky SBCL without warnings I have a bit of time now to work on cl-cairo2, so please tell me if there are any features you are missing. This also because /usr/bin/stumpwm will be called via the menu [4]. Thus in /usr/bin/stumpwm I implemented a patch similar to that at [5]. 1) the end-user can add a line in his ~/.stumpwmrc to specify the preferred Common Lisp implementation ;; debian=$LISP 2) /usr/bin/stumpwm grep for "debian=" and uses its value instead of the default one 3) the default value is SBCL, because this is the one I use, mainly because CLisp has a specific bug in the NEW-CLX module, already solved in CVS [6] [7] I haven't found any problem with this solution yet, so I'm asking for comments. Thx, bye, Gismo / Luca Footnotes: [1] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=356948 [2] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=384697 [3] cl-launch --output ./stumpwm \ --lisp "sbcl clisp cmucl" \ --system stumpwm \ --init '(stumpwm:stumpwm (cl-launch:getenv "DISPLAY"))' [4] this even if StumpWM doesn't support a --replace command option like Metacity, for example [5] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=20;bug=384697 [6] http://clisp.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/clisp/clisp/src/NEWS [7] this bug is present only in recent StumpWM CVS checkouts and not on all architecture, because CLisp is compiled with NEW-CLX only on i386, powerpc and amd64. With the old MIT-CLX, CLisp-2.41 and StumpWM CVS work normally on my amd64 box From kmr at debian.org Mon Jul 16 08:32:02 2007 From: kmr at debian.org (Kevin M. It includes version 3.3 of GMap, which contains the following changes: () Revamped arg types `:index' and `:index-inc' (incompatibly). () Added doc strings, including on the predefined arg- and result-types, and arranged for them to be placed on the symbol-plist, where there's an outside chance someone might find them. () Revamped result types `:vector' and `:string' (incompatibly). () Removed deprecated arg- and result-types `:array'. () Changed most optional arguments to arg- and result-types to keyword arguments. () Substantially expanded the multiple-value capability. Now it is possible for an arg-spec to generate any number of arguments to the function being mapped, and for a single result-spec to consume more than one value returned by that function. () Using the new multiple-value capabilities, added `:alist' and `:plist' as both arg- and result-types. Thanks to Joerg Hoehle for some useful suggestions. -- Scott _______________________________________________ misc-extensions-announce mailing list misc-extensions-announce at common-lisp.net http://common-lisp.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/misc-extensions-announce _______________________________________________ announcements site list announcements at common-lisp.net http://common-lisp.net/mailman/listinfo/announcements From owner at bugs.debian.org Mon Jul 16 21:06:08 2007 From: owner at bugs.debian.org (Debian Bug Tracking System) Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2007 21:06:08 +0000 Subject: [cl-debian] Bug#432003: marked as done (gclcvs: installation fails) References: <54zm1wgiv0.fsf@intech19.enhanced.com> <20070706155253.GA1309@xanadu.blop.info> Message-ID: Your message dated 16 Jul 2007 17:05:07 -0400 with message-id <54zm1wgiv0.fsf at intech19.enhanced.com> and subject line Bug#432003: gclcvs: installation fails has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. The "debian/copyright" file in the version 139-1 source package still has the license with the slightly crazy advertising clauses, whereas "license.txt" has changed to a simple two-clause BSD license. (The author still recommends the advertising as a way to help publicize services using Common Lisp, but it is not part of the license text.) According to the rule of float and rational contagion, described in CLHS 12.1.4.1, and X3J13 issue CONTAGION-ON-NUMERICAL-COMPARISONS:TRANSITIVE, such a comparison should always return the mathematically correct result, as if the floating-point number were first converted to a rational with RATIONAL. Instead, CLISP signals an underflow condition: $ clisp -q -x '(< (expt 10 -100) least-positive-short-float)' *** - floating point underflow The Implementation Notes for GNU CLISP, sections 12.2.3.1 and 12.2.3.2, don't seem to say anything about comparisons, but mention two variables which control ANSI-compliance. CLISP behaves the same when invoked with "-ansi", to set these and any similar variables to T. $ clisp -ansi -q -x '(< (expt 10 -100) least-positive-short-float)' *** - floating point underflow This X3J13 issue is listed as supported in the Implementation Notes for GNU CLISP: http://clisp.cons.org/impnotes.html#issues CLISP behaves as expected if the floating-point number is filtered through RATIONAL. (Note that CLHS 12.1.4.1 explicitly states "When rationals and floats are compared by a numerical function, the function rational is effectively called to convert the float to a rational and then an exact comparison is performed.") $ clisp -q -x '(< (expt 10 -100) (rational least-positive-short-float))' T $ clisp -q -x '(< (expt 10 -10) (rational least-positive-short-float))' NIL I'm fairly certain CLISP is in error. I have not idea about common lisp stuff, but when I install your package in a clean chroot I get some errors that should not be there. Please see attached log. I'm sure there is a problem here, if the problem is in another package, please reassign. You can reproduce this bug easily creating a chroot with cowbuilder: 1 - Install cowdancer 2 - Run: "cowbuilder --create"(this will create a sid chroot) 3 - Enter in the chroot: "cowbuilder --login" 4 - Install gclcvs 5 - Look at the output Ana -------------- next part -------------- apt-get install gclcvs Reading package lists... The specification for load-foreign-library (http://uffi.b9.com/manual/load-foreign-library.html) states that the function will return NIL if the library was not able to be loaded. Thus, the current code correctly follows the specification for this particular case. In light of this, but also seen the amount of time I've already spend in trying to get clisp on sparc to work again for example. I've decided that unless I get patches from people running or trying to run sbcl or clisp on architectures that fail to build I will stop bulding these packages for these architectures. The fact that most upstream developers do not have the possibility anymore to support these architectures themselves already is a clear sign these architectures are heading towards the big gc in the sky. Frankly I do not have the time, nor in most cases the machines to keep these architectures alive. This means that for clisp I will not build anymore for sparc (a sigsegv during boot). For sbcl that means removing alpha (missing arch_handle_single_step_trap), mips (impossible missing file src/assembly/mips/arith.lisp), mipsel (error during testing of sb-introspect) and sparc (old sbcl crashes on startup). However, the change I made fixed a bug for a sid user where the all package was uninstallable because the dependant any package was not built by the autobuilder because of some lengthy delay. With the change I made, now sid will always have the correct packages at all times. Having that consistent working in sid is worth something. Is it worth the same increase in size of the archive (these packages are quite small)? For sid users (of which there are many), I'd say the answer is yes. -- Kevin Rosenberg kevin at hypershots.com From luk at debian.org Mon Jul 23 15:10:22 2007 From: luk at debian.org (Luk Claes) Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2007 17:10:22 +0200 Subject: [cl-debian] Bug#434358: cl-sql - arch-any without need In-Reply-To: <20070723143319.GA27531@rosenberg.net> References: <20070723094723.GG16540@wavehammer.waldi.eu.org> <20070723143319.GA27531@rosenberg.net> Message-ID: <46A4C4DE.6070501@debian.org> Kevin Rosenberg wrote: > Bastian Blank wrote: >> An arch-any dependency is no reason to make a package also arch-any. > > There's a clear reason below. Which is a perfectly normal situation for all the Arch: all packages that depend on Arch: any packages. > With the change I made, now sid will always have the correct packages > at all times. Having that consistent working in sid is worth > something. Is it worth the same increase in size of the archive (these > packages are quite small)? For sid users (of which there are many), > I'd say the answer is yes. Not following policy because of some sid users' inconvenience is not the way to go IMHO. Note that we are thinking about fixing it globally somehow... Note also that you are trying to fix problems for sid users by introducing a workaround for all suites, so when you compare with the increase in the size of the archive you should count all suites. That's correct, the changelog entry was stale. > Notice that it's also lossen the dependency on cl-sql-uffi, as it's a arch:any > package, which can get new versions due to newer builds (version xyz -> xyz+b1). The purpose of the change is the exactly tighten the dependency to guard against potential future bugs. cl-sql-uffi, being an integral part of the clsql package, may have changes made that are not compatible with earlier versions of its dependants. Thus, newer builds of cl-sql-uffi may not be compatible. > More info at http://wiki.debian.org/binNMU I've read that and I'm aware of its usefulness. Still, it is not correct that later versions of the 'any' package (cl-sql-uffi) will necessarily be compatible with its dependants. They could well be incompatible. Thus, the reasons for the (= and not (>= depends statements. Kevin From kmr at debian.org Thu Jul 26 23:17:03 2007 From: kmr at debian.org (Kevin M. Please use the example at http://lintian.debian.org/reports/Tnot-binnmuable-all-depends-any.html to solve the problem you mentioned. Don't forget you might cause your package to be uninstallable with the tight dependencies. That might be even less nice than have compatibility problems. -- Lior Kaplan kaplan at debian.org GPG fingerprint: C644 D0B3 92F4 8FE4 4662 B541 1558 9445 99E8 1DA0 From kevin at rosenberg.net Fri Jul 27 08:26:00 2007 From: kevin at rosenberg.net (Kevin Rosenberg) Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2007 02:26:00 -0600 Subject: [cl-debian] Bug#434812: cl-sql: not binNMU safe In-Reply-To: <46A99DF7.8030403@debian.org> References: <20070726213236.8954.72047.reportbug@localhost> <20070726225056.GA12568@rosenberg.net> <46A99DF7.8030403@debian.org> Message-ID: <20070727082600.GA17576@rosenberg.net> Lior Kaplan wrote: > That's understood. But, I don't see how the solves the issue. It still declares the dependent package can depend upon a newer version of the any package when no such guarantee of compatibility exists in the upstream source. > Don't forget you might cause your package to be uninstallable with the > tight dependencies. That might be even less nice than have compatibility > problems. I'd perfer the package be uninstallable than have an incompatible set of binary packages installed. To my mind, that's part of the advantage of the debian packaging system, to reduce the possibility of incompatible packages being installed. -- Kevin Rosenberg kevin at hypershots.com From edi at agharta.de Sun Jul 29 16:40:33 2007 From: edi at agharta.de (Edi Weitz) Date: Sun, 29 Jul 2007 18:40:33 +0200 Subject: [cl-debian] [ann] [cl-gd-announce] New release 0.5.6 (Was: thread safety in cl-gd) In-Reply-To: <87ir8675b7.fsf@memetrics.com> (Alain Picard's message of "Fri, 27 Jul 2007 16:02:04 +1000") References: <87ir8675b7.fsf@memetrics.com> Message-ID: On Fri, 27 Jul 2007 16:02:04 +1000, Alain Picard wrote: > Cursory inspection of the code seems to suggest, for instance, that > *transfomers* is not safe; the only references to this variable I > see are in specials.lisp: > (defvar *transformers* nil > "Stack of currently active transformer objects.") > > and in WITH-TRANFORMATION, which does not create a new binding for > *transformers*, but rather just pushes a new transformation onto the > global *transformers*.
