One practical reason might be that a user may wish to run the examples
on an already running web server. If that's the case, chances are they
don't want the examples conflicting with what's already their root
page.
On the other hand, by default UCW fires up a fresh web server upon
invocation. So perhaps putting up a friendly welcome page with links
to the examples on the root page when invoked in this manner wouldn't
be unreasonable. It'd be a handy place to put links to documentation
too.
