 Hmm.  Both openjdk8 and openjdk11 work on the xenial distribution
 available to <https://travis-ci.org/easye/abcl/jobs/613567826>

 Maybe somehow dealing with "static" memory initialization if openssl is
 used more than once?  That shouldn't be able to happen, but maybe multiple
 JVMs are somehow keeping memory around?
