 Is there some reason that the source-entry is translated into the output-
 entry by taking all of it as defaults, rather than just the name? I'm
 wondering if the directory components are combining in some anomalous way
 when computing the `output-entry`.

 Again, if there was an explanation of what it was intended to compute,
 this would be easier to debug.
