Round-up as in the Python issue tracker? No, there's not currently a public list. I have a private one but it's on my workstation at home. I think I remember most of it: - move clnet to new server (in progress) - write app to make managing projects more decentralized - block admin list for non-subscribers (to avoid spam) - update frontpage so it's clear what we are and that there are more parts to the community than just us - compile a newer sbcl - make the projects.shtml an automatically updating page - make the 5-most-recent-projects on the front page automatically updated, too - make macho work again or remove the link to it - create statistics - number of users/projects (avg user per project, etc) - number of CVS operations - number of downloads per project - stick this number into a file which can be SSI included by the various projects if they feel like it - set up paypal link on the front page And I'm probably forgetting something. Help would be very much appreciated! I think probably in the area of mundane administration such as approving and creating projects so that users applying won't have to wait for one individual to do this (timezones etc.) although I'll certainly take help any way I can get it. I'll be busy preparing for the move to the new server the rest of this week but once that's complete we can start making a roadmap for how to proceed with the remaining tasks and which to do when. Is it at all possible to rename the project's parts now, before we do anything with CVS or the lists? There are a few packages that depend on the library already, so I ought to preserve CVS module names and asd file names. It'll be slightly less weird for people if the project name matches the module and asd name. If this isn't possible, that's alright too. Thanks. I believe this is a problem across many or all of the projects and is not a real problem as far as I remember. Don't worry about it for now, unless it's a real problem for you. I'll look into it after we move clnet to the new server. Erik. I would like to, if possible, use the darcsweb[1] CGI script to allow browsing of the CFFI darcs repository over the web. The script is written in Python, and seems to require modules not present in the (old) version of Python on cl.net. I'm not sure if the project webspace is set up to allow CGI execution---if doing so is not possible, then it should be pretty painless to set up one darcsweb installation for all darcs repositories on cl.net. If you would prefer to set up a server-wide installation, I can furnish the CFFI darcs repository configuration that would need to be in the darcsweb config.py. Hi! Right now I'm busy planning the move to a new server. One of my first todos after that's completed (hopefully this weekend) is to create statistics of downloads and hits to webpages for projects. My plan is to probably list all these statistics on one central page but also to put the statistics in files which you can use SSI to include in your webpages. Does that sound like what you need? Our source code repository contains the base code as well as our project sources and the thirdparty software we use in our projects. We are moving towards asdf-installability, but this is not yet finished. Members of the project are Hans H?bner (me) and Manuel Odendahl. There are a few correspondents, but they are not currently committing code to the repository. All code is licensed under a BSD-style license. I just added HTTP stats: http://common-lisp.net/stats.shtml Basically this includes page views and downloads, it's up to you the interpreter of the statistics to determine if a hit to a file is a page view or a download. Does this satisfy your requirements? Thanks, Erik. I was hoping that the tarball for libxslt would include the xsltproc executables (and that the dependency, libxml2, would be completely installed, too). I can't compile xsltproc and xmllint (the utility I need from libxml2) because it seems that only the shared libraries have been installed, the header files seem to be missing as well. Is that easy to fix or should I rather roll my own executables somewhere and copy them to /project/bknr or something? We are currently experiencing severe problems with our colo provider: It seems that our hosting provider's colo provider is completely incompetent. We're now on our third downtime in one week and have made the obvious decision to move to another colocation facility. I'm sorry about all the downtime and inconveniences. My hosting provider (Tech Co-op) tells me they will try and move us into a new colo some time next week. In the mean time, I'm terribly sorry to have to provide such an unreliable service and hope the users will bear with us until we have this resolved. This basically means they will flip the wrong breaker, etc and when they do that it seems we may also have run into a bug with Xen (virtual machine software) and the RAID drivers we are using which results in file systems being mounted read-only on bootup after a hard shutdown. Hopefully this won't be the norm until we switch to a better colo provider and address any bugs in Xen. Though do let me know if there are other problems of which I'm not aware. Thanks, Erik. After one of the crashes the Mailman config files were corrupted. I have no idea how they can be corrupted to the point that they morph into another valid list but that's indeed the symptom. I restored munich-lisp's config file from backup and it now appears ok (at least it doesn't claim to be rdnzl-cvs). Thanks, Erik. I am in the process of researching using Lisp to develop macros for generating and processing semantic data, particularly the processing of OWL & RDF vocabularies and establishing relationships faster using functional programming to rapidly generate ontological relationships. The exact idea is presented in a paper: ?Building Ontological Data From Lists For Semantic Processing?, which is being readied for Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM 2006). It relies heavily on s-xml, cl-prevelance and cells. This will be of general interest since it will allow anyone using RDF/ OWL to "annotate" their websites to use these macros to parse and generate their ontological relationships faster. Parsing and creating these relationships will be even more incredible given Lisp's ability to manage large amounts of similar relationship atoms together in a relationship that can persisted on the back end without any framework code. So much research in the actual code implementation of OWL/RDF parsing is locked in to Algol thinking, and I believe it could be better represented, and give Lisp some good visibility, to try to tackle this problem from the functional perspective and build small light-weight parsing algorithms that can build on top of each other to establish relationships instead of the brute-force parsing now done in a top-down fashion using C++, C# and Java in the Simile project at MIT. The name is a pun, the full name is technically "Python on Lisp". The license is probably BSD. I've done the groundwork, but I hope someone will contribute things such as a with-python macro, and tidy up the CFFI calls, etc. So far the code stands at 4kb, so it's lightweight. As for the hosting, I don't know anything about SVC, but I'll try and find out. Anyway, I look forward to having somewhere to put the project. I'll start uploading when/if you approve the application. :-) Regards, Jeremy. -- | Jeremy Smith BSc (Hons) | Chief Scientist, Decompiler Technologies | Member, British Computer Society | England
