Project name: asdf-packaging

There's a lot of good Lisp code lying around on the internet, but I've
become spoiled by the convenience of asdf-install. I want to take some
of this unpackaged code and, with the author's permission, make
asdf-installable packages. I need a place to put the tarballs. If I
can get mailing lists and such, that's good too. So far all I have is
a memoization package by Tim Bradshaw, but I hope to add to that.

Do you have any license restrictions (for the packages) in mind? We
would highly prefer open source packages...

I realize that my application probably got lost during the breakin
scare. So included is my freshly minted public key, again to set up
the LMUD and LTELNETD projects.

I was actually thinking of renaming LTELNETD to CL-TELNETD, actually,
in keeping with the other projects that are adopting the same naming
convention. I'll do the rename on all my files before I put them up,
but please created it with that name instead.

Though one. Two months is not really a very long time for a free lisp 
project, but I see your dilemma. Have you tried contacting Marcelo Ramos 
(iirc xanthus on #lisp) directly -- or in case his email address has 
soured, using eg. CLiki as a notice-board?

To my mind the ideal solution would be "whatever he thinks best" -- be 
that merging your patches, asking you to join cl-ncurses, or whatever.

If he can't be reached, as an alternative solution you're always free to 
fork and host the project under another name at clnet (or even under the 
same name elsewhere!) ...then when he resurfaces things cn be merged if 
you two agree on things.

[FWIW, it should be noted that common-lisp.net project namespace and CLiki
namespace are different things -- nothing outside social norms and the 
wrath of dan-b prevents your from grabbing the CLiki page. Not that I'm 
advocating it, just noting the fact.]

As things stand I don't think it's appropriate for clnet staff to 
unilaterally decree that a project has been abandoned, and is up for 
grabsm etc; we should formulate and publicise any such policy well 
beforehand -- and even then a year or two might be a more appropriate 
fallow period.

As said, I'd try direct contact first.

This problem stemmed from an error in the file permissions for the
mail spool directory.  I'm assuming this has to do with the recent
move.  In particular, I believe that the gid for group mail changed
during the move.  If this could not have happened, then this issue
needs to be examined further.

I've reset the group ownership for the spool directory, which should
fix ffjeld's problem.  I'm searching the filesystem for other files
which may be similarly affected.

to log in, and then

I tried logging into the list admin page for lmud-devel with the
password I was sent for the shell account, but it didn't work. Can I
get that fixed? I haven't tried lmud-cvs or lmud-announce, but I
presume they have the same problem.

You should have gotten some emails wrt to each of these lists, one
welcoming you to it, and onw acknowledging that you are an admin for
it. That last one contained the password.

I didn't receive anything. I did get request responses from my
subscriptions to all of them, but those I did myself, and they didn't
say I was the admin. I didn't receive anything before that.

Presumably they were sent by .forward to my gmail account? Maybe
they're lost in the ether and will show up later. I'll wait and let
you know what happens.

I would like to move hosting of ITERATE

seem to be a better place to host a common lisp project (-:

Here's the rub:

ITERATE is an extensible iteration construct written by Jonathan
Armstrong, ported to ANSI CL and extended by me and various
contributors.

It is available under the MIT licence.

I won't be needing a CVS repository (the project's using arch
already); a -devel mailing list would be appreciated (-:

I did some minimal exim reconfiguration: since saturday it is using
the spamhaus sbl-xbl blacklist. As anyone can notice, the reduction in
spam has been rather dramatic...
