[admin] CL-PPCRE anoncvs trouble

I'll see if I can figure this out myself, but here's the case:

$ cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at common-lisp.net:/project/cl-ppcre/cvsroot
login
Logging in to
:pserver:anonymous at common-lisp.net:2401/project/cl-ppcre/cvsroot
CVS password:
$ cvs -z3 -d :pserver:anonymous at common-lisp.net:/project/cl-ppcre/cvsroot
co cl-ppcre
cvs server: warning: cannot write to history file

Iirc there have been similar problems before, right? What's the usual
cause?
